About Green Bay Egress Windows

Green Bay Egress Windows is a locally operated egress window service covering Green Bay and Brown County - De Pere, Howard, Suamico, and Bellevue included. We do one category of work: cutting, installing, and maintaining code-compliant basement egress windows, wells, and drainage. No siding, no roofs, no whole-home window packages. Foundations, openings, and the code that governs them.

Why a specialist, not a generalist

An egress window sits at the intersection of three trades: concrete cutting, structural framing, and drainage. A general window company handles the middle step and subs out or skips the other two. That’s how you end up with a beautiful window over an undersized header, or a code-perfect opening at the bottom of a well that fills every March when the snow lets go.

Crews that take egress jobs run the same sequence every time: diamond-blade wet sawing, lintel and buck-frame installation, well anchoring, gravel drainage beds tied to footing drain tile. Because the work repeats, the quotes are flat and the schedule is honest. You can see the whole process on the egress window installation page.

We work to Wisconsin’s code, not a national blog post

This matters more in Wisconsin than almost anywhere else. Most states enforce basement egress through the IRC; Wisconsin has its own Uniform Dwelling Code (SPS 320–325), and its egress rules - the 20-by-24-inch net clear opening, the 60-inch sill limit with a platform above 46 inches, the areaway sizing in SPS 321.03(6) - are not the IRC numbers that dominate search results. We build to the UDC text and to whatever your municipal inspector adds on top of it, and we’ll happily show you the code sections behind any spec on your quote. If you want the plain-English version first, start with our UDC egress guide.

The permit side is genuinely local here: Green Bay runs its own Building Inspection division, and De Pere, Howard, Suamico, and Bellevue each handle their own permits and inspections. We file with the correct office for your address and schedule the inspections as part of the job.

Straight answers, published prices

Two commitments shape how we operate:

  • Prices are public. A full install typically runs $3,500–$6,500; wells, covers, replacements, and drainage work are all listed with real ranges on the pricing page. The number you get after the free on-site measure is flat - no sales-visit theater.
  • No promises we can’t keep. Permits and inspections belong to your city or village. We build to code and handle the process end to end, but nobody can guarantee an approval, and we won’t pretend otherwise. If your project has a complication - a stone foundation, a lot line problem, a water table issue near the river - you’ll hear it at the measure, not at the invoice.

Credentials to ask for

Concrete cutting and installations are done by independent local contractors, and the credential to ask them for is Wisconsin’s Dwelling Contractor certification, which the Department of Safety and Professional Services requires for pulling permits on one- and two-family homes. Ask for a certificate of insurance at the same time. That’s the honest description of how contractor credentials work in this state: Wisconsin certifies dwelling contractors rather than issuing a general “contractor’s license,” and anyone quoting you should be able to say the same.

Where we work

Green Bay proper - east side, west side, and everything the postwar ranch belts reach - plus De Pere, Howard, Suamico, and Bellevue. Same pricing, same process; only the permit office changes.

If you’re finishing a basement, fixing a flagged bedroom before a closing, or replacing a well that’s held water since the thaw, send the form. You’ll get a free on-site measure, a flat quote, and a straight answer about whether the job is worth doing - including the times the honest answer is that a simple window replacement is all your house actually needs.
